Why Clean Water Matters in Africa

For many families across Africa, clean water is still not close, safe, or reliable. WHO and UNICEF report that 1 in 4 people globally still lack safely managed drinking water, and in The Gambia, UNICEF reported that access drops to just 10% in rural areas. A well can help protect families from disease, reduce the daily burden of collecting water, and give children more time for school, care, and community life.

Africa Relief & Community Development has already built 2400+ wells in countries across Africa. Now we are building more water wells in The Gambia, Senegal, Ghana, Djibouti, Sudan, and Tanzania.

How Your Support Builds Water Access

Africa Relief works through local teams, regional offices, and community partnerships to identify vulnerable communities and support water projects where they are needed most.

How your support reaches communities

  1. Communities with urgent water needs are identified.
  2. The right water project type is selected based on the local need.
  3. A well or solar water system is built for community use.
  4. Donors receive proof of completion where available, including photos, videos, and location details.

UGANDA

Dedicated on behalf of Father Gurbanali, Mother Solmaz and Brother Suleyman, this well now brings clean water to Nakifuma Town Council, Mukono District.

THE GAMBIA

A WELL IN MEMORY OF ARAFA MUHAMMAD AL-MAGHRIBI

Completed in 2024, this solar-powered well honors the memory of the late Arafa Muhammad Al-Maghribi, providing clean water to communities across The Gambia.

PRAYERS FOR HUMANITY WATER WELL

Completed in 2025, this surface water well, built through Prayers For Humanity, now brings clean water to families across the Republic of Benin.
