Across Africa, millions face daily food insecurity. Children go to school hungry, mothers ration what little remains, and families rarely see a meal with meat.
Access to nutritious food is a basic right. Since 2019, ARCD has delivered food baskets, Qurbani meat, and nutrition support, turning donor generosity into meals for families in crisis.

Across Africa, millions of families cannot access enough food to survive. Conflict, climate shocks, and poverty drive a hunger crisis that stunts children's growth, weakens communities, and cuts lives short.

Food insecurity affects hundreds of millions across Africa. Conflict, climate shocks, and poverty leave families unable to afford or grow food. The result is chronic hunger that weakens bodies, stunts children’s growth, and shortens lives.

Malnutrition is a leading cause of child mortality in Africa. For children under five, the effects are not just physical stunting and wasting during the early years, which cause irreversible cognitive damage, limiting a child's capacity to learn and thrive for the rest of their life.
ARCD's Food and Nutrition Program delivers targeted food assistance and nutritional support to communities facing acute need, while leveraging the Islamic tradition of charitable giving to connect donors' faith directly to transformative action on the ground.

During the holy month of Ramadan, ARCD distributes food baskets containing a full month's worth of essential staples to families who would otherwise struggle to break their fast each evening. Each basket is carefully assembled to provide balanced, culturally appropriate nutrition for a family across the entire month.
At Eid al-Adha, ARCD facilitates the Islamic ritual of Udhiya by slaughtering animals on behalf of donors and distributing the fresh meat to impoverished families across Africa. For many of these families, this is the only time in the entire year they have access to a nourishing meal with meat.
Beyond seasonal aid, ARCD runs feeding programs for malnourished children and mothers, conducts screenings to identify those most at risk, and promotes awareness campaigns to encourage healthier practices. These interventions tackle both the immediate symptoms and the root causes of malnutrition.
